For our first assignment, we were required to do a self portrait using unconventional methods. This is my process and final outcome of the whole thing.
Lines Exploration:
For the first two pages I used regular watercolor brushes, pencils and pens.

The last page I used a ruler, bottle cap, and the bottom of a water bottle.

Self Portrait Sketches:
I referenced these portraits from several selfies I had taken before.

Color Palette Experimentation:
Since I wasn't too sure on what colors I wanted to use for the final, I tried out a few color palettes that I may possibly use.

Experimentation:
I tried using unconventional lines like geometrical shapes and circles.

Final Draft:
This was originally my final result, but I wasn't too content with it, so I decided to research further.

Experimentation of Materials:
Deriving a few ideas like geometrical shapes from the previous pages, I tried it out with color pencils, postcards, watercolor, and gauche.

Flower Research:
These are photos I found online which helped me find out how I want to draw out my flowers.
The flower I chose is the cherry blossom, as it symbolizes the fragility and beauty of life. It is basically a reminder that life is almost overwhelmingly beautiful but also tragically short.

Flower Experimentation:
I tried painting the cherry blossom with different techniques.

Final Draft:
I drafted out the final so that I know what to do for the actual final.

FINAL RESULT:
