Assignment 1 | Black And White Photos Using Phone (Week 1)

Updated: Feb 22, 2019

It's the start of a new semester, which usually means new assignments to conquer. In all honesty I was bored out of my skull during semester break. I have nothing to do. When am I going to get some more assignments to do again?

Haha, I wish. I wouldn't say that I was that bored, but more like itching to get my hands on creating.

For our first assignment, we were to do black and white close-up minimalism. As I searched Google for examples, this was what I found:

First picture

This was the first picture I took. When I began, I really had no idea what to take. So, I turned to the first thing on my right, which was my laptop bag. This is before editing:

Second picture

Getting a little bit more of an idea on what to do, I took my laptop's keyboard with the windows key being the focus.

Third picture

I was just taking anything within my reach and messing with it by this point. This is the netting inside exercise shorts. You can't really see the edit much (me neither tbh) but basically all I did was bring down the saturation until it becomes black and white.

[Edit]

After publishing this blog post, I got to take some more pictures because hey, I'm not having an art block right now, why not take advantage of that?

I applied the same technique I used with the exercise shorts, but this time I used bubble wrap.

I really liked how the exercise shorts and bubble wrap shots turned out, so I did it again with a little purse.
