Reflection of overall studies (Week 15)

Updated: Dec 10, 2018

Time flies so fast. It felt like yesterday when we received the first assignment of the semester. I am in the March 2018 batch, so I still have another short semester to go before I can pursue my undergraduate studies. I am hoping to get into next year's March/April batch (?) and even now, when I still have a few more months to go, I can feel my hear beat faster in excitement. I don't mind the long, sleepless nights stressing over my projects. I don't mind if I have to put in hours and hours of practice to get the result I want. This is my passion, and I'm not afraid to go for it.

Once I continue into my degree, I'm aiming for game art, or something along those lines. I felt like FID so far has been able to skyrocket my capabilities as an artist and I can't wait to see what challenges next semester brings me.

This semester was pretty tough for me. I felt like it was very group-project focused, and for me, I wasn't used to it. We have to discuss as a team, learn more as a team, and push each other together as a team. Unfortunately I have to say, I did not exactly feel that.

I remember during a short period I did not have much time to work with a group. Honestly I felt very bad, but in my defense I was (and still am) working part-time. I tried to make it to our meetings on time, but since I worked night shifts, I sometimes overslept and resulting in me coming late. But when I would arrive at our meeting point, I oftentimes only saw one other group member to work with me, and another one would come in later. Our fourth member might not even come in at all. I took a week's leave from work so that I can stay back to help with the assignment, but even then we had four men's work for three people, so it has taken quite a toll.

Another group I can think of right now was a nice set of people. The only difficulty was that we barely had any solid communication. We have a chat group, like all groups do, but we didn't discuss anything there. The one thing we scheduled was when we were supposed to go to a workshop during the time we booked. Other than that, I had no idea when and where we are going to meet. I didn't know where to go, what to do. Even if they were discussing something at the other room, they didn't mention it in the group chat. How would I know if they don't say anything?

Now, I may be coming off as a little (okay, very) salty with all my complaints, but I don't have all bitterness in me. My CTX group was amazing. We all worked together, bonded together as a unit, and discussed everything before going ahead with decisions. We had equal amounts of work distributed, and we were even ahead of schedule as we finished our video way before the deadline. I can't say for sure with the video editing, but the editors are great. Our final product felt impressive to me. Not to mention we do still have fun while working on it :)

And this is my cue to present to you now the video, and also my final CTX blog post. CTX and Mr Charles, you were awesome.
